Research on REDD+ project sites

Component 2 of the Global Comparative Study on REDD+ is conducting research at 22 REDD+ project sites in six countries: Brazil, Peru, Cameroon, Tanzania, Indonesia and Vietnam. Knowledge generated by this component will assist first-generation REDD+ practitioners to improve their performance in attaining the 3E+ outcomes, provide guidance to design second-generation (post-2012) REDD+ activities, and will serve as one reference point for evaluating the success of national REDD+ policies and practices.

The research involves collecting data before and after implementation of REDD+ interventions to measure changes in carbon stocks, human welfare and other relevant outcomes. The research design also involves comparison between villages where REDD+ interventions have been made (intervention sites) and those where they have not been made (control sites).

The research includes not just impact evaluation on the outcomes of REDD+ interventions, but also on the process of setting up and implementing REDD+.

Component 2 has produced a guide for measuring progress toward desired livelihood outcomes during the implementation of REDD+ projects, and also technical guidelines and research instruments for conducting its research.  Links to these documents can be seen to the right.

Component 2 now has an interactive map and listing of REDD+ projects worldwide. Click on the map below to be taken to the interactive map section.
